Autumn

Autumn Leaves

How silently they tumble down
And come to rest upon the ground
To lay a carpet, rich and rare,
Beneath the trees without a care,
Content to sleep, their work well done
Colors gleaming in the sun.

At other times, they wildly fly
Until they nearly reach the sky.
Twisting, turning through the air
Till all the trees stand stark and bare.
Exhausted, drop to earth below
To wait, like children, for the snow.

There Was an Old Witch

There was an old witch
Believe if you can
She tapped on the windows
And she ran,ran,ran.
She ran helter skelter
with her toes in the air,
Cornstalks flying from the
old witches hair.
Swish goes the broomstick,
meow goes the cat,
Plop goes the hop-toad sitting
on her hat.
"Whee!" chuckled I, "What fun,
what fun!"
Halloween night when the witches
run!
